In March and April,
1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy
Database Project. The idea was to provide a single entry point where collected
databases for all counties in Kentucky would be stored. In addition, the
databases would be indexed and cross-linked so, even if an individual were
found in more than one county, he could be easily located in the index.
At the same time, other volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate
the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the individual
county web pages.
This genealogy "MSGenWeb"
page for Mississippi, the Magnolia State, is simply an outgrowth of that
original Kentucky project.
As such, and in the spirit
of involving as many as possible in this adventure, we want to solicit
your assistance in making research in Mississippi more convenient for yourself
and others. If you'd like to add your data to the database or help out
with the Mississippi Genealogy Project, contact the volunteer shown on
the appropriate county page.
You may notice a message
in the county listing indicating it is now available for
ADOPTION.
This means that while we have created the county page, we are now looking for
someone to take it over. If you would like to adopt a web page for one of
these counties, please contact the current owner of the page ... the name is
listed at the bottom of the county page or on our title page beside the county. |
