King - Mason Cemetery

Montgomery/Carroll County Line in Montgomery County

Directions - Take HWY 407 out of Winona to Scotland Rd.  TR Scotland Rd and go 4.1 miles to fork in road.  Veer right onto Mason Rd.  Cemetery is 30 feet down on the right hand side and up a steep bank. This information provided by Stephanie Scruggs on August 22, 2003

History - John King purchased the 400+ acres surrounding this site in 1841.  The land was shared with the families of his children, Thomas Jasper King and Mary King McEachern Hoffman.  Mason is the married name of Mary's daughter, Anjie Hoffman.

I think there is also a marker there for James Monroe Cunningham (1852 - 18xx), but am not sure.  Also I have heard (original source, Mr. Walter Johnson of that area) that his son

James Cunningham is also buried there, but there is no marker.
