God Bless America

                                        To The Public

Having completed my mills, I can now make Meal for all who will bring their corn, and furnish lumber on the shortest notice at the following prices, viz:

            Rough edge plank                                                               $0.75

            Weatherboard                                                                         1.50

            Ceiling                                                                                     1.62

            Inch plank                                                                               1.75

Quartered flooring 11 inches thick                                     2.00

Quartered flooring 14 inches thick                                     2.25

            Scantling 3 by 4 inches                                                        3.00

Joist    $3.50 to $4.00 according to size

Having thus reduced the prices of lumber from previous rates to meet the exigencies of the times, I hope generous customers will not deem it amiss in me upon the return of better times to return to the better prices.

Cash will be required for all lumber on delivery.

Transcriber’s note:  I don’t know how to interpret the prices since I don’t know if there was a standard length for lumber in those days. Surely, it can’t be priced by linear foot or square foot.
