 The purpose of the MSGenWeb
mailing lists are to inform, help and have fun. In order to insure that
MSGenWeb is a place where all CC’s feel safe from being flamed or picked on, we
must have some rules of netiquette.
Please do not start rumors
on the list. If you have a question about something you have heard, please
check with one of the MSGenWeb Staff members before alarming the list.
Personal attacks are not
allowed. We should try to hold ourselves to the highest standards of behavior at
all times. Please remember that we are not going to always agree with each
other but, if we make personal attacks at each other, then we may miss out on
some very valuable suggestions because of the fear of being attacked.
No yelling in your post
(that means using all caps). Let’s refrain from doing that because some people
could be offended.
Before sending your email,
take a few moments to read it over to make sure you have not inadvertently said
something you didn’t mean to say that could hurt someone’s feelings. Remember,
often one word placed incorrectly in a sentence can change the entire meaning of
what you really want to say.
When replying to a
message, please include relevant text from the original message, but please do
not leave several messages straggling that are irrelevant. We need to remember
that everyone does not have a high-speed connection, so removing lengthy
messages could help someone with a slower server than you may have.
When replying to an email,
please place your reply where it is easy to find. If the reader has to hunt for
it, they may just delete it without reading and miss out on what you have to
contribute.
The Ten Commandments of E-mail:
Thou shalt
include a clear and specific subject line.
Thou shalt edit any quoted text down to the minimum thou needest.
Thou shalt read thine own message thrice before thou sendest it.
Thou shalt ponder how thy recipient might react to thy message.
Thou shalt check thy spelling and thy grammar.
Thou shalt not curse, flame, spam or USE ALL CAPS. |
