lived in this community all my life and never knew of this cemetery until
one fall day. While traveling south on 49, I noticed a most impressive
cemetery across a field that I never knew existed. This past weekend
we drove down a dirt turn-road to get a close and personal view of the cemetery.
At close view, some of the markers were very impressive commemorating
the individuals AT REST whether they were homemade or hand carved stone.
Others were very saddening, in that they were badly neglected. Many
were dangerously taking the marker with the deeply recessed ground. We
could have missed may of the makers for the ground was covered in winter
foliage., and we were very careful in our efforts not to step off in armadillo
holes or recessed graves. It was a visit leaving me sad, in that, some
of the individuals had been remembered with nice marker whether it be military
or other but had been left in time for the ground to swallow and recess into
deep holes taking some of the markers with it. It was apparent that the cemetery
had been burned off at some point, for there was no way to mow it's unleveled
grounds. Yes, I knew some of the individuals but had no idea they were
buried in GOSHEN CEMETERY. Stanley
