Humphreys County,
Mississippi
Methena Cemetery
6 miles East of Belzoni off Hwy 12
onto Mathena Brake Road

If you have access to any cemetery listings or tombstone photographs from Humphreys County,
and you are willing to share them with your fellow researchers,
please let me know.
I would like to have listings and photos for all of the cemeteries in the county.
Suggested corrections and/or additions will be noted in RED.
The original data will not be removed.  Do you know of others
buried here?  Let me knowe-mail and I will post their names and data.

This cemetery was recorded by Stanley & Cindy Marshall
and contributed by Sharon Grissett.
It was recorded counter-clockwise.  Entered the gate from the road,
began on the right (began 05/02/1999).
The cemetery is east of Belzoni, it is 7.2 miles from Hwy 49W.
Take Hwy 12E across the big bridge.  Go 5.7 miles from Hwy 49W.
The 4th paved road to the left after you cross the big bridge (Yazoo River).
Go 0.8 miles to the 2nd road - take a right from the right turn,
go 0.8 miles and the cemetery is on the right.
It is in a grove of trees, surrounded by overgrown fence.
The cemetery entrance is guarded by a big unlocked gate

[Additional info: There were three brothers
named J H Hampton, Jasper Henry, James Henry
and John H. All but two or three of the Hamptons
in Mathena are related to James Henry or Francis M,
another brother. The others may be related I just
have not found out how they may be related. On
GenForum's Hampton forum I have found references to
Jasper Henry having lived in Yazoo County not Humphrey
County and that as oldest he was born about 1840
 or 1842.]
