BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

A native Mississippian, born near Ruth, Lincoln County, on September 18, 1875. He was the son of Dr. Chauncey P. Conerly and Margaret McCullough Conerly of Lincoln County.

Received his education in the public schools of Lincoln and Pike Counties and High School at Tylertown, Miss.

Was initiated January 8, 1898, passed February 12, 1898 and raised March 12, 1898 in St. Albans Lodge No. 60, of Columbia, Miss. He was made a Royal Arch Mason in McComb City Chapter No. 90 in 1911. Served as High Priest of Jackson Chapter No. 6 in 1932. Was Greeted in McComb City Council in September, 1916, and served as Master of Jackson Council No. 5 in 1931. Was Knighted in McComb Commandery No. 34 in 1919. Served as Eminent Commander of Mississippi Commandery No. 1 in 1937. Has served as Secretary of Pearl Lodge No. 23 since 1922, and was Secretary of all the York Rite Bodies of Jackson for six years. Been a District Deputy Grand Lecturer since February, 1906. Made a Shriner on May 8, 1919, in Wahabi Temple at Jackson. Consistory February 16, 1921, in Albert Pike Consistory at Jackson. Served as Master of Pine Lodge No. 3, in Walthall County from 1906 to 1909 and of Knoxo Lodge No. 546 1913 and 1914.

His early life was spent on farm and as clerk in stores of Lampton  Bros., Atkinson and Foxworth and C. Atkinson Sons Co.

Was married to Miss Carrie B. Redmond of Lawrence County on December 25, 1901. They have nine children, seven boys and two girls. Was appointed as Deputy Grand High Priest by Geo. D. Riley February, 1935, and served as Grand High Priest 1936. Served as Grand Master of the Grand Council R. & S. M. in 1936. Served as Worthy Patron of Radiant Chapter No. 120, 0. E. S. in 1923. Elected Junior Crand Warden in 1936; Senior Grand Warden in 1937, and Grand Master in 1938.
