Lowe, Bement 

Sue Carol Bement and Clifford Earl Lowe Jr. were wed in Ventura, Calif., on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at the Cameo Wedding Chapel with the Rev. Richard Henniger officiating. 
 

The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Whitlock of Meridian. The bridegroom is the son of the late Clifford Earl Lowe Sr. and Dorothy Lowe of Ventura. 
 

Maid of honor was the bride's daughter, Jennifer Bass of San Pedro, Calif. The flower girl was the bride's granddaughter, Shelby Shields of San Pedro. 
 

Best man was the bridegroom's brother, Steve Lowe of Tyler, Texas. 
 

A reception was held at the Pierpont Inn in Ventura. The couple honeymooned in San Francisco, Yosemite and Catalina Island. They now reside in Thorndale, Pa., where the bride is a trade show manager for Lockheed Martin in Owego, N.Y. The bridegroom is a program manager for Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Fla.

Chris Fisher and Kate Moore were married Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, during a sunset beach ceremony on the Island of Grand Cayman. 
 

Parents of the couple are Jack and Kathy Moore of Cornell, Ill., and Phillip and Libby Fisher of Decatur. 
 

The bride is the granddaughter of John and Joan Mullen, and Darlene Moore of Cornell. 
 

She graduated from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. The bride is an underwater videographer for VIP Productions. 
 

The bridegroom is the grandson of Gladys Fisher of Sebastopol, and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Clark of Union. 
 

He graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans. The bridegroom is a master scuba instructor for 7 Mile Beach Resort, Grand Cayman. 
 

The couple currently resides on the Island of Grand Cayman.

Mrs. Hand, 91, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Health South in Birmingham, Ala. She was born in Terry and attended Belhaven College. She was a longtime resident of Philadelphia and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She served as music coordinator for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for the Choctaw Indians and performed extensive work to help preserve the Choctaw music and dance culture. For her efforts, she was awarded Outstanding Educator in America. She was a a member of the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Arts Council and was an avid bridge player. 
 

Survivors include a daughter, Susie Hand Denson of Birmingham; a son, Samuel Max Hand Sr. of Seminole, Fla.; grandchildren, Bruce Denson Jr., Allen Denson, Mary Morrow Denson, Sam Hand Jr. and Susie Hand. 
 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Hand in 1976. 
 

The family requests memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia.

He was a retired stock clerk from Williams Brothers of Philadelphia. He was a native and life long resident of the Pearl River Community in Neshoba County.

During her active years the family lived in Jackson where she worked for the city of Jackson, serving as hostess at the Municipal Art Gallery. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Jackson. 
 

Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Hodgen P. Montague of Newton; a daughter, Betty Chapman and her husband, James Walter, of Newton; three grandchildren, Kent M. Mrs. Boswell, 82, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Baptist Village in Waycross, Ga. She was a native of Causeyville, but had lived most of her life in Meridian before moving to Waycross in 1998. Mrs. Boswell was a retired bookkeeper from Merchants and Farmers Bank in Meridian (now Deposit Guaranty). She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Waycross, but was formerly a longtime member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church in Meridian for more than 50 years. 
 

Survivors include a son who serves as chaplain of the Baptist Village, the Rev. Bob Hutcherson and his wife, Carolyn, of Waycross; two granddaughters, Kim Hutcherson of Atlanta and Kristin Hutcherson of Alexandria, Va.; a great-granddaughter, Elaena Hutcherson of Alexandria; and several other relatives. 
 

She was preceded in death by a son, Don Hutcherson.

JOSEPH G. MCWILLIAMS 
 

WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash. -- Joseph Gleason McWilliams died in his home in Coupeville on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2001. He was 78. 
 

He was born June 11, 1923, in DeKalb, Miss., to Zeb Gleason and Ada Holloway McWilliams. After attending Mississippi State University, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving first as a corpsman and later as a medical entomologist. He married Miriam Slight McWilliams in 1953. 
 

Mr. McWilliams was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, serving many stateside assignments, as well as in Egypt and Japan. He retired Aug. 1, 1977, in Washington D.C. as a captain (O-6) with 34 years of service. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association. 
 

After retirement, Mr. McWilliams moved to Whidbey Island in 1978, settling in Coupeville. He traveled extensively, including trips to Kenya, Thailand, Russia, Europe and Australia. He spent his last year visiting and traveling with his high school sweetheart, Frances Clayton. 
 

Mr. McWilliams was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam McWilliams in December 1983. He married Mary Louise Johnson in Juneau, Alaska, on Aug. 28, 1992. She also preceded him in death in May 2000. 
 

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia L. McWilliams of Diamond Mountain, Ariz.; a son, Dr. Michael G. McWilliams and grandchildren, Daniel and Rachel McWilliams, all of Corvallis, Ore. 
 

Cremation was held. Burial was in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Graveside services for Robert O. Logan will be held today at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Horel officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 
 

Mr. Logan, 79, of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Benchmark Health Care. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 96th Signal Battalion in China, India and the Burma Theatre of War. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Logan of Meridian; daughters, Robin Logan of Houston, Texas, Kim Wilkins and her husband, Philip, of Birmingham, Ala.; a son, Keith Logan and his wife, Elizabeth, of Meridian; grandchildren, Clay Logan, Matthew Hutchinson and his wife, Kerry, all of Meridian, and Angela Logan of Pearl; a great-grandchild, Joseph Bryan Hutchinson of Meridian; and a sister, Elsie Logan of Meridian. 
 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Logan.

UNION -- Services for J.C. "Jake" Savell will be held today at 2 p.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Burrell officiating. Burial will be in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery in Neshoba County with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. 
 

Mr. Savell, 87, of Union, died Saturday, Jan. 26,2 002, at Helping Hands Hospice in Madden. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and a master mason of the Golden Grove Masonic Lodge No. 0323. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Pinkie Miles Savell; two daughters, Wanda Bernard and her husband, Carl, of Union and Nancy McElroy and her husband, Lamar, of Cuba, Ala.; two sisters, Eleanor Sharp of Philadelphia and Irma Dee Rasberry of Vernon, Ala.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 
 

He was preceded in death by a son, Myles Clayton Savell. 
 

Pallbearers will be Tom Barnett, Tim Barnett, Lonnie Warren, Harvey Townsend, Don Elliott and R.A. Hamilton.

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. -- Services for Miriam Lynn Hardin Stewart will be held today at 8 p.m. at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Road Chapel with the Rev. Linda Lewis officiating. 
 

Mrs. Stewart, 56, of Pfafftown, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in her home. She was a native of Union, Miss. 
 

Survivors include her husband, William James Stewart Jr.; three sons, William James Stewart III and his wife, Nienke, Jason Allen Stewart, all of Winston Salem, and Bruce Eric Stewart of Athens, Ga.; a sister, Patricia Ann Mounce of Clinton, Miss.; two brothers, Mark Allen Hardin of Pearl, Miss., and Charles Kenneth Hardin of Jackson, Miss.; and two grandchildren.
