MELBA JANICE CHAMBLEE EZELLE 
 

UNION -- Services for Melba Janice Chamblee Ezelle will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Morrow and Artie Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Ezelle, 54, of Union, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, in her home. She was born on Sept. 22, 1947 to the late Ned and Christeen Rushing Chamblee in Union. Janice will be missed by so many friends, family and co-workers. Her strength and love for life and nature was an inspiration for so many people. She never met a stranger and all who met her were drawn to her by a charismatic personality and generous nature. 
 

Survivors include her husband, Robert W. "Buddy" Ezelle; children, Rena, David and Christopher and daughter-in-law Erin Ezelle; a brother, Wayne Chamblee; a sister Janell Slaughter and her husband, Dinines, and a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Lula Mae Ezelle Harrison and several nieces and nephews. 
 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ned and Christeen Rushing Chamblee; a brother, Randy Chamblee and her in-laws, Robert Davis and Etoile Shealy Ezelle. 
 

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith, 88, of Meridian, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was self employed with Stanley Home Products before she retired. She was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church and T.E.L. Sunday School Class. 
 

Survivors include a daughter, Sarah DuBose, of Maitland, Fla.; three sisters, Bertie Moore, of Bailey, and Annie Bell Motley and Kay Chaney, both of Union; four brothers, John C. Hughes, of Jackson, James W. Hughes, of Alexandria, La., and Stennis Hughes and Robert Hughes, both of Bailey; six grandchildren, Harold DuBose Jr., of Russell, Patricia Wilson and Gregory DuBose, both of Maitland, and Vicki Smith, Lisa Berdami and Robert Smith, all of Meridian; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. 
 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavelle "Shorty" Smith, and a son, Norris Smith. 
 

Pallbearers will be Stan Wilson, Justin Woodard, Adrian Woodard, Larry Townsend, Gerald Townsend and Howard DuBose.

Mrs. Jordan, 83, of Benton, Ky., died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Medco of Paducah, Ky. 
 

Survivors include two daughters, Dee Minter of Symsonia, Ky., and Julie Jordan Butler Brazell of Paducah; a son, retired Col. William Henry Jordan of Alexandria, Va.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Jordan, a grandson, Randall Gaza and her parents, Harold Harland Sanders and Julia Mae Armstrong Sanders; three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Hodges, 57, of Greenville, formerly of Meridian, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. 
 

He was born in Marianna, Fla. moving to Meridian at an early age. He graduated from high school and made his home in Greenville for the past 28 years where he was employed with Modern Lines in Indianola, retiring in 2000 due to ill health. He was an avid fisherman. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hodges of Greenville; three daughters, Kathy Havens of Wardingville, W.Va., Vickie Kimbriel, of Lake Village, Ark., and Kriss Keeling of Greenville; three sons, Mitchell Stevens, Mark Stevens and Todd Stevens, all of Greenville; a sister, Sheryl Easterling of Meridian; four brothers, David Hodges of Pensacola, Fla., Donnie Hodges of Meridian, Larry Hodges and Danny Hodges, both of Brandon; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Addy, 72, of Harrisville, formerly of Decatur, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was a Senior Master Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force and retired after more than 22 years of service. He was retired from Southern Lumber Company. 
 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Addy, of Harrisville; three sons, James Joseph Addy of Prescot Valley, Ariz., Michael David Addy of Mendendhall and Tim Addy of Flora; a step-daughter, Joyce Stephens of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a sister, Vetta Lavender of Tuscaloosa, Ala. 
 

Pallbearers will be the Military Honor Guard of Columbus Air Force Base.

Mrs. Henry, 58, of Inverness, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, in Tampa. 
 

She was a member of Lakeside Country Club and a volunteer at Lake Regional Library. She was a Baptist. 
 

She was born in Meridian, the daughter of Thomas Clark and Virginia Armstrong Jones and lived for a time in Clinton, Miss. before moving to Inverness. 
 

Survivors include her husband, Willard Henry Jr. of Inverness; a son, Thomas Earn Brannan of Easley, S.C.; a step-son, Gary Henry of St. Francisville, La.; daughters, Christine Snyder of Brandon, Miss. and Judy Lynn Dear of Morton, Miss.; step-daughter, Patti Henry of Baton Rouge, La.; a brother, Robert Jones of Missouri; a sister, Mary Ruth Cullum of Decatur, Miss.; and a very special niece, Teresa Dearing and 12 grandchildren. 
 

She was preceded in death by a son, Clarence David Brannan in 1988.

Mrs. Henson, 87, of Corpus Christi, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002. She was born in Meridian on Dec. 2, 1914 and lived most of her life here. 
 

Survivors include her son, Charles Gerald Henson and his wife, Nancy, of McAllen; her daughter, Kay Lindley and her husband, Jim, of Corpus Christi; and eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. 
 

She was preceded by her husband, Charles Blackwell Henson.

JACKSON -- Services for James Harold Odom will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Meridian at 1 p.m. 
 

Mr. Odom, 46, of Clinton, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at St. Dominic Hospital. He was born in Meridian to the late Joe W. Odom and Bonnie Hurst Odom in 1956. He had lived in the Clinton area for 18 years and was a former resident of Jackson. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid fisherman. He was Baptist. 
 

He is survived by a loving family: his mother, Bonnie Lucile Odom, of Clinton; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy L. Odom and Ginny, of Raymond; a brother, Johnny Odom of Florence; a sister, Diane Odom McManus, of Ward, Ark.; a grandson, James Sidney Odom; four nieces; and four nephews.

Mr. Tinsley, 82, of the Damascus Community, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson. He was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after more than 35 years. He was a native of the Damascus Community and was a veteran of World War II, and served in the U.S. Air Force in the 48th Fighter Squadron.

Mrs. Hosch, 75, of Meridian, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Guardian Angel Hospice. 
 

Early in her adult life she was employed with an insurance agency and later for Western Union. Most of her life was devoted to being a good mother and a wonderful homemaker for her loving family. Throughout her many illnesses for many years, she never stopped trusting in God and seeking Him. She used every opportunity to witness to God's love, His amazing grace and healing power. While residing in South Florida she was active in a leadership role of Christian Woman's Club of Broward County and was instrumental in organizing and supporting the Rare Disease Association. 
 

Survivors include her husband, Taylor W. Hosch of Meridian; a son, Michael Edward Hosch and his wife, Sylvia Nell Hosch of Meridian; a brother, Ellis Eugene Carroll of Modesto, Calif.; a sister, Mary Frances of Muskogee, Okla.; two grandsons, David Michael Hosch and his wife, April, of Meridian and Richard Edward Hosch of Gautier; a granddaughter, Lisa Diane Stanley of Dallas; a great-grandson, Taylor Michael Hosch of Meridian; special friends, Carl and Nell Linton, Opal and Laverne McDonald, Diane Nester, and all the friends of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church; and a very special friend, Jessie Bonner. 
 

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Diane Hooks; and her parents, Henry and Virginia Carroll.

Mrs. Sullivan, 80, of Collinsville, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. 
 

She was born and raised in Kemper County but had lived in Lauderdale County for the past several years and was a member of Pine Grove Church in the MArtin community. 
 

Survivors include two daughters, Gladys Allen and Mary Tubby, both of Meridian; four sons, Conner Odell Sullivan of Decatur, Jimmy Dell Sullivan of Meridian, Richard Wayne Sullivan of DeKalb and Johnny Lee Sullivan of Collinsville; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, James Clyde Wright of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews. 
 

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.T. Sullivan in 1969; a son, R.C. Sullivan in 1996; and a daughter, Bobbie Nell Sullivan in 1948.

TERESA JOAN BOYD 
 

Teresa Joan Boyd, formerly a longtime resident of Meridian, was taken from us suddenly in a tragic accident near her home in Herndon, Va., on Friday, Aug. 16, 2002. 
 

Teresa Joan graduated from Meridian High School, where she was active in marching and symphonic bands. 
 

She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Southern Mississippi, studying geology, mineralogy, cartography and music. During her schooling at USM she studied in Wyoming and spent summers with the Army Corps of Engineers, mapping a 300-year history of the Mississippi River. 
 

After college she worked with the Defense Mapping Agency in Rhode Island, St. Louis and Washington D.C., helping create accurate map products used by shipping, airlines and NATO. The products her team created were directly responsible for the accurate targeting in wartime first witnessed in the Gulf War. 
 

During her tenure at DMA, later renamed the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, she completed two master's degrees, one from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport News (the only civilian and only female in her class) and the second at Salve Regina College. She held security clearance six levels above "Top Secret." 
 

She instructed NATO F-16 pilots in Denmark; snow skied in Canada, Montana and Idaho; toured active underground mines in Montana; mined for gernets in Idaho; and actively "dived" a nuclear submarine in the Atlantic at the controls. 
 

She enjoyed playing piano, starting at an early age. She studied brass in high school and violin in college. She was an avid antique furniture enthusiast and a gardener. 
 

Surviving family include her mother, Peggy G. Boyd of Reston, Va., and Ft. Walton, Fla.; a brother, James E. "Jimmy" Boyd of Ft. Walton; and the Boyd family of Missoula, Mont., including her brother, Greg Boyd, sister-in-law Laurie Boyd and nephews Daniel and Joey.

Mr. Snowden, 87, of Columbus, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at Trinity Healthcare in Columbus. 

Mr. Snowden was born on Nov. 5, 1914, in Lauderdale County to the late James Ranson Snowden and Emily Rissie Snowden. He lived in the Columbus area for 49 years moving from Collinsville and the Martin Community. Mr. Snowden was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, a Mason, and an avid outdoorsman and was retired from United Technology. 

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Venie Byrd Snowden of Columbus; daughters, Barbara Snowden Underwood, Dell Snowden Willcutt, both of Starkville, and Georgia Snowden Sheffield of Columbus; sisters, Retha Snowden Deal of Waynesboro, Sarah Snowden Harrison of Meridian, Julia Snowden Crenshaw of Columbus; brothers, Hailey Snowden of Meridian, and Virgil Snowden of Collinsville; grandchildren, Mitzi Sheffield Younger, Russell Sheffield, Valerie Sheffield Morgan, Rick Underwood, Vicki Underwood Frizzell, Sherry Underwood Taggart, James William Willcutt and Gregory Scott Willcutt; and 20 great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Jim Willcutt, Scott Willcutt, Rick Underwood, Russell Sheffield, Criss Taggart and Curtis Younger. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Trinity Healthcare, Dr. Michael Duckworth, Dr. Lance Busch and Dr. Doyle Sumrall.

Mr. Wade, 85, of Newton, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, in Meridian. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Wade and was raised in Newton County and knew Mississippi well as a timber man. 
 

He spent a large part of his adult life in Georgia, where he was co-founder and director for AFLAC. He contributed to many community efforts by funding parks and baseball fields in Douglas, Ga., as well as the City Park in Newton. He was also honored to be part of the Mississippi State University football stadium expansion. 
 

Survivors include his four children, John E. Wade II of New Orleans, Floyd D. Wade Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Newton, Paul D. Wade of Meridian and Nell B. Wade of Jackson; grandchildren, Miriam W. Wade of Alpharetta, Ga., F.D. "Buck" Wade III and his wife, Kelly, of Anniston, Ala., Rebecca Wade Banzhaf and her husband, George, of Starkville; and a great-grandchild, Simon Banzhaf of Starkville. 
 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Minter E. Wade.

Mrs. Daws, 97, of Madison, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, in Madison. She was born in Meridian on March 16, 1905, to Charles Atterberry Gartin and Geneva Jackson Gartin. 
 

She was a school teacher and then a homemaker. Later she touched many lives through her years of work with the Mississippi Welfare Department. In her community, she was known as one who could be counted on to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. Her sense of humor brightened the day wherever she went. She was active in her church, where she served as pianist for years. 
 

She loved God, her family, her host of friends, and of course her cats. Truly she was a beautiful person inside and out, a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend. 
 

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Anderson of Madison; three nieces, Rebecca Overstreet of Starkville, Janette Richardson of Houston, Texas, and Beverly Busching of Jackson; several great-nieces and nephews. 
 

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Gartin of Jackson, Robert Gartin and Carroll Gartin, both of Laurel.
