Lebanon Presbyterian Church
Pontotoc County,
Mississippi

This building was constructed 1924. Lebanon Presbyterian was originally founded ca 1850 on site near Old Lebanon Cemetery. About 1882-83, the church was moved. The old church was torn down and moved to Toccopola by ox wagon and put up again by the members. Each piece of timber was marked as it was taken down and by this method of identification, was identical to the original church. Then, the building as it now stands was built in 1924. Rev. R. W. Hardy was pastor at that time. He, with J. F. Rogers, M. D. Martin, deacons, and H. . McCharen, elder, took a leading part in erecting this building. They still have Sunday School each Sunday, I believe, and church service once a month. Families who have been instrumental in the church are: Gilmers, Bryant, Biggers, Rogers, Pickens, Morrisons, Wileys, Martins, McCharens, Blacks, Furrs, McLartys, Whites and others.
