Alvin Earnest Jones

A. E. Jones Rites Monday Alvin Earnest Jones, 68, Belden Resident, died at 9:00 a.m. Sunday at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mr. Jones was a retired employee of the Tupelo Sanitation Department. He was a member of Belden Baptist Church. Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Longview Baptist Church with Mr. Thurman Bryant, the Rev. W. L. Oaks and the Rev. Billy Nelson officiating. Burial followed in Pontotoc Memorial Park Cemetery with Baldwin Funeral Home in charge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ellen Jones; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Stacy of Pontotoc, Mrs. Paul Stanley of Belden; three sons, Rivers and W. C. Jones of Belden, Berdell Jones of Tupelo; two sisters, Mrs. Essie Wilder of Tupelo and Mrs. Fred Harrington of Clarksdale; two brothers, Maurice Jones of Chesterville and Elford Jones of Pontotoc; 15 grandchildren.

Notes: Earnest Jones b. 12 May 1902, son of Walter Jones and Ora Davis, d.30 May 1970; married Ellen Ross on 6 Jun 1927. Ellen was born 20 Jun 1904, daughter of Ben Ross and Adeline "Addie" Graham, d. 20 Nov 1977. Both are buried at Pontotoc Memorial Gardens in Pontotoc County off of Hwy 9.
