HUNTER, KYLE, MCELROY, MCWHORTER, WAUGH, WILLSON posted by Tricia Petitt on Friday, January 16, 1998

I am looking for any information about James KYLE and Nancy WAUGH, who lived in Pontotoc, Mississippi in the late 1700's and early 1800's. My g-g-g-grandmother, Margaret McElroy KYLE was born there on 7 Mar 1809.  She married Rev. William MCWHORTER who was born 16 Mar 1811, Wahalla, Pickens District, SC, son of John MCWHORTER and Elizabeth WILLSON). My g-g-grandfather, William David MCWHORTER, MD was born in Pontotoc on 27 Dec 1838.  His father promised Margaret that she could deliver her first child at her parents home in Pontotoc.  They were listed in the 1845 Census records as 3 males, 2 females, from SC. I suppose the other female was Nancy WAUGH and the other male, was James KYLE. If anyone knows of the KYLE clan, please write to me! I would love to trade info.  The KYLE clan came from Ireland and James KYLE's parents were James KYLE, MD and Kitty HUNTER. I am also looking for any information on the MCELROY clan.  My ancestress had a middle name of MCELROY, so I am wondering who in the family had that surname. My address is: bonestwo@erols.com Thanks, Tricia Petitt
