Coldwater - THOMAS WALKER GAINES, 87, passed away December 31, 2006 at his home in the Palestine Community. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 1 at the funeral home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 2 at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home. Burial in Palestine Cemetery. He was a member of Palestine Methodist Church. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Rae Gaines; two daughters, Judy Herron and husband Wayne and Donna Ingram and husband, Shelton both of Coldwater; son, Jerry Gaines of Coldwater; brother, Joe Gaines of Batesville; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Jesse Durward Gaines, age 84, of Little Rock, passed away Saturday, Feb 9, 2002. He was born Oct 7, 1917, in Coldwater, Miss., to Jesse C Gaines and Effie Papps. He was a retired Chief Master Sergeant in the U S Air Force after 23 years of service. He was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor and a recipient of the coveted Purple Heart award. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. Mr. Gaines retired as a manager of the York Arms Sporting Goods Store in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Little Rock, Ark.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Parker; and one brother, Kenneth Gaines.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy S Gaines; two brothers, Thomas Gaines and Joe Gaines; one son, Dodie Gaines; two daughters, Ginger Stafford and Dinah Platt; one son-in-law, George Platt; one daughter-in-law Ai Ngoc Ngo Gaines; four grandchildren, Lane Stafford, Brooke Stafford, Brian Platt, and Phillip Platt. His life passions were his grandkids and the beaches of Destin, Fla.
