Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hurt's little daughter, Katherine, aged four or five years died
Sunday night from the effects of a burn she received Friday evening while she
and her two little brothers were playing around a fire in their lot, her dress
caught fire, she was burned severely on her back and lower limbs.

Roy Hurt 83, of Coldwater, retired farmer, died May 10, at St Joseph Hospital in
Memphis. Services were held May 12, 3 p.m., at Greenleaf United Methodist
Church. The interment was held at Greenleaf Cemetery with bro Kemp and Bro
Clutter officiating.
He leaves four daughters: Brenda Grady of Southaven; Mrs Gatha Hurt of
Greenleaf, Mrs Beverly Murphree of West Helena, Ark., and Mrs Vanessa Lynchard
of Hernando; son, John Wesley Hurt of Independence, and five grandchildren.
Mr Hurt was a member of Solomon No 126, Independence.
Pallbearers were Jerry Gaines, Harvey McKee, John Cole, Glenn Hurt, Greg Hurt,
David Grady, Alex Ray Massey and Tom Gaines.
Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home of Hernando had charge.
