12/6   Arrived at home with very little rain on us on the way back

12/14  I was at a Ball given by Mr Spring at his residence  danced till after midnight  left for home

12/21 Thoses pigs of the Sharpnosed Berksire numbering five piged on the 20th of December  1852.

1/15 First lambs the 15th January 1853.

2/12 Those pigs of the year old guilt Sow numbering five piged on the 12th Feb, 1853 they are all dead but two sows March 14 1953.

2/14 This the 14 Feb had 17 come but 6 died leaving 11 alive at present. one has come
  March 3, 1955

2/14 Planted plantbed of cabbage & pepper

2/17 Planted those plum & cherries trees in yard & orchard

2/14 Three young calves come this the 25th of Feb 1853 the old cows oldest.

3/21 Planted about 70 trees in the Orchard peach trees  The two red steers.

3/24 Set out four pine trees in the yard  I put swamp gravel under the roots sold by Mr. T.
  Daulton

3/25 Thrashed stalks ooff of Wheat.  has nearly covered the ground this wheat was not
  plowed in  It was sown about the 1st of Nov 1852

3/27 Planted first corn next to the swamp  it was wheat stuble laid off with a shovel and
  followed with a long bulltonge plow then droped the corn

4/2 Grafted those aple sions got of Jim Tucker over Tippah of the early June kind

4/16 Transplanted first cabbage plants in the garden

4/18 planted That Field on the other side of the Ditch in the old valey all the corn white.

5/5 panted crop cotton  It come up badly owing to carless planting the seed too thin & too thick

5/12 planted these two piecs of corn & peas equal down next to the bottom & planted the  last corn in the old valey  planted between the beds by running two forrows

5/18 Sowed a bed of cabbage seed come from Mr Leaks Southern raised in the old bed of  others

5/26 Sett out the first drawing of potatoe slips

6/4 began chopping out my cotton to a stand it has generally four leaves on it

6/10 began to cut our wheat

6/11 went a fishing to Osborn's Mill  Caught none

6/3 Twenty days drouth from the 3 to the 23 of June

6/20  The first cotton bloom from heard of Mr.  Smiths

6/28 Mr. Power's School is out

7/2 went pleasure fishing to Yellow Rabbit Creek where the lower Riply road Crosses it
   stayed all day   caught 12 fish

7/4 began to lay by the oldest corn witch is tassling and silking  sowed peas broad cast

7/5 hauled in par my wheat from field below the house

7/18 finished hauling in wheat and begn Thrashing

7/14 planted the last sweet potatoe slips

7/19 returned from Pontotoc after a Stay of two weeks

7/20    Terable Catastrophe With the Becks

7/30 Went on a fishing excusion to Cotton Plant Bridge there were  was 7 persons

7/31 made 51 bushels of Wheat off of 17 Acres  valey ground

8/18 Sowed turnip and sowed some fine quality in rows seed from Tisamingo

8/21 terable Thunder & Lightning that ever I witnessed

8/22 began to pull fodder a great deall of wet weather

8/15 I did go hunting to Cilli on the other side of Tippah river  Killed one deer, saw 6,
  started 9, stayed two nights & thre days

9/8 Went on a visit to Ann Rachels near Pontotoc Miss  We continued there 11 days came
  home on the 19th July 1853

9/15 Our first Peaches ripe

9/23 Maredian of peach time ripening

9/27 Tuesday  Started on a journey for Surth Carolina  Sister Salli & I with Mr. Berry,
 Mrs. Machen & daughter.

10/15 arrived at our place of destination  Greenville District South Carolina and a fine dry
  time all the time

10/23   in the evening late went to Court Mary Anderson in co with Cous Hallie & Lou
        Jane & John A

11/16   Left all at Uncle Cha's Terry's Cou's Jimmi & John A, Tully & Allie Lou Halley &
 all the rest of Uncle Chas' Children - for home this same evening got to Uncl. S. Terry
        who is 19 years 1 month & 14 days old weighs one hundred & twenty one lbs height 5 feet
        4-1/2 inches tall  This December 25th 1853
