Cartersville

Cartersville was established as a voting precinct on October 1841. It was located on the Jacinto and Tuscumbia stage route. It is said to have been established before the county was organized. There was a large mercantile business here conducted by Mr. Barton as well as a post office. It was on the first official map of the State of Mississippi in 1817.
