Unable to locate them on 1850 or 1860 census. John H served in the 52nd TN infantry Co C. He died in 1926 Scurry Co. TX. I believe Callie Kitchens was from the Booneville area and may have been born in Alabama. She was the daughter of Lewis D. Kitchens. Callie Kitchens married John Riley Ledbetter in 1891 and they lived in the Glenfield community (New Albany, MS). She died in the 1950's. John Riley Ledbetter was from the Corinth area. His parents were John Riley Ledbetter and Mary Farris. According to his 1933 obituary, he had four brothers (Jim of Booneville, MS; George of Paris, TX; Dock of Glenfield, MS; and Sam of Ripley, MS) and four sisters (Mrs. J.C. Young of Corinth, MS; Mrs. E.J. Keeton of Wheeler, MS; Mrs. Taylor Moore of Tupelo, MS; and Mrs. John McCarthy of Baldwin, MS). John Riley Ledbetter and Callie Kitchens had three sons (Clifton of Memphis, Bonnie of New Albany, and Emmett of Jackson, TN) and one daughter (Cecil of Amory, MS).

Sallie Rook was the mother of 8 children: Eliza (married Columbus St. John), Ella, Ollie (Sarah Olivia), Theresa, Martha, Clementine, Thomas (who died young), and Duncan Coleman Rook. Duncan Coleman Rook was my great grandfather. The St. John family that I know about is the father Arthur, sons Columbus, Jefferson, Bill and Jim. These two families moved to Yell County, Arkansas somewhere between 1880-1885. Three of the Rook sisters married 3 of the St. John men. Arthur St. John was married 3 times. I am particularly interested in the father of the Rook family. Sallie is listed as a widow on the 1880 census. I don't know what Sallie's maiden name was.

I believe Pontotoc is both a city and a county. Lee County is adjacent. Her parents were William Franklin WHITE and Caroline SHANNON. By 1920, her parents had died, and she was living in or near Columbia, SC. It is not known when she moved there, whether she went alone or with one or both parents, or when or where her parents died. She may have been part American Indian - at least that is what she told people. There was another family member named Ida May SHANNON, but I don't know how she was related. These should be buried in Union Co. also. I have civil war info on both ggrandfathers and good evidence they were both born in MS (from Tippah Co. 1850 cen).
