Elliot Vernon "Lige" Robertson passed away in Portland, Oregon at the Veterans Hospital on January 17, 1966 following an extended illness.

Lige Robertson was born March 16, 1917 in Louisville, Mississippi, the son of George R. Robertson and the late Viry (Miles) Robertson. He was raised and educated in Louisville, Miss. and lived in the area until he joined the C.C.C. in the late 1940s and traveled to Oregon.

He enlisted in the Army on December 3, 1941 and served in the 3rd Division Infantry in Europe until discharged as a Sargent on May 14, 1945 at Camp Shelby, Miss.

Lige then went back to Vernonia, Oregon where he met Arvela Christensen and they were married on January 10, 1946 in Vancouver, Washington. He owned the local Shell Oil distributorship for many years and later started a company performing gypo logging. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. Lige especially liked hunting and fishing, spending his work day and time off in the woods of Oregon.

Lige is survived by his wife, Arvela Robertson, of Vernonia; two sons, Gary and Vernon "Buddy" Robertson, both of Vernonia; one daughter, Jodi Robertson, of Vernonia; three brothers, Cleve and Ray Robertson both of Vernonia; and S.O. Robertson of Medford, Oregon; five sisters, Mrs. W. T. (Virgie) Pugh of Lake Grove, Oregon; Mrs. Charles (Esther) Ruth of Longview, Washington; Mrs. George (Tharis) King of Corvallis, Oregon; Mrs. Don (Mary) O'Conner of Lake Oswego, Oregon; and Mrs. Larry (Virginia) McMahon of Longview, Washington.
