HAZLEHURST GIRL DIES FROM BURNS

Gasoline Explosion Fatal to 17-Year Old Maydee Bufkin, Dies Here

With her flesh badly seared as the result of burns she received when some gasoline exploded in her home, Miss Maydee Bufkin, 17-year-old Hazlehurst girl, died Sunday morning at a local hospital.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Bufkin.

It was only a few hours after she was burned that she was brought to the hospital here for treatment, but the shock had been too great and medical efforts were of little avail in prolonging her life.

Miss Bufkin was among the most popular of the younger girls at Hazlehurst and her untimely death is mourned by a host of friends of both herself and her parents.

The body was shipped to the Hazlehurst home from the Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home Sunday afternoon. The obsequies took place at the Antioch Baptist church with Rev. J. H. Purser conducting.

Besides her parents Miss Bufkin is survived by four brothers, Lloyd, Marlow, Herbert and Eldin Bufkin all of Hazlehurst.
