Mr. Daugherty was a semi-retired licensed navigator-Captain, in the Merchant Marines. During his working life, Mr. Daugherty, an industrial engineer by profession, worked 20 years in Sylvania Electric, in Civil Aviation as personnel manager for 15 years, and at Bulova Watches for 10 years, and 11 years in the Merchant Marines.
Twelve years ago when visiting friends, Mr. Daugherty fell in love with Brookhaven and bought some land and settled down with the idea of going into the earth moving and construction business.
His ashes will find their way to the three main oceans of the world, as was his wish, but part of them will be buried in the Antioch Church Cemetery. A graveside service will be held Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawrence County on the East Lincoln Road.
