HUDSON, GREER, HAYNES, BEASLEY, WATSON
Most of the families in Noxubee county with these surnames were related. This group of relatives moved into the county as it was being formed and just after...from Greene county and Oglethorpe county, GA. [Some may have stopped off in Alabama before they got to Miss.] Frederick Hudson, son of John Hudson and Mary Beasley, of Lunenburg county, VA., is found in the Probate records as early as 1837 giving a guardianship report on his wife's niece, Lucy S. Ragan. Frederick's wife was Lucy Greer. The niece was the daughter of deceased parents, Mary Greer Ragan and Jeremiah Ragan, who had died in Oglethorpe/Greene counties in Georgia. Frederick's son, John Hudson had married Elizabeth Beasley in GA. and is shown buying land in Noxubee county,1838. John Hudson's son, William Beasley Hudson is my great grandfather. William B. Hudson married Sara E. Watson in 1854. Her father is given to be Charles Watson. I have not located where they married, nor information on Charles Watson. There are "missing" records for W.B. Hudson's brothers, John Henry Greer Hudson and Osias C. Ward Hudson. O.C. Hudson was found serving in the 1st Cav. and John H.C. Hudson was in the asylum in Jackson 1855.

BIRD, FREDERICK HUDSON
Oldest son of William Byrd/Bird and Mary Hudson, dau. of Frederick Hudson and Lucy Greer, Frederick Hudson Bird was born 1828 . Had siblings: William W. Bird, John W. Bird, Mary Lee Bird, and Elizabeth P Bird. Recent contact with descendants of this man. Hoping to find the siblings descendants. Apparently, this family moved on into Louisiana, although I am not sure if was just before or after the Civil War.

I am trying to find information about my grandfather, Leon Robbins.
He was born in MS - maybe Noxabee Co. in 1904, to I believe George Robbins
and Corie Wiley. Leon was the second youngest followed by James Robbins.
I remember some of his sisters as Theckla (sp?), Leila, Inez and I think
there were more. He had an older brother, George Lacy Robbins, we were told
he served in WWl and was killed in an automobile accident on his wedding
day. My grandfather married my grandmother Margaret Anna Weir
in about 1924. They lived in Tuepelo until about 1941 then moved to Kentucky.
Margaret Anna was born in 1903 in Iowa to David Weir and Mary Nickolson
(sp?) Weir. She was the oldest of five children. My grandfather's younger
brother, James, "Uncle Jammie" was married to Nannie
George Taylor Simpson Robbins, and he owned the Macon Beacon newspaper.
I believe he died in 1982 . Does any of this connect with anyone out there?

I have been researching the Eilands and Carters. My grandfather
was Ovid Celdon Eiland and my grandmother Eillen Virginia Carter. I have
collected a lot of info about the Eilands but am now trying to trace the
Carters back from Ellen Virginia. I do not know the name of her father and

I AM MOST INTERESTED IN CLARISSA WHO WAS GIVEN TO JOHN HUDSON
IN THE DIVISON OF APRIL 4, 1842, ESTATE OF FREDICK HUDSON. I DO NOT
SEE HER IN THE DIVISION OF THE JOHN HUDSON ESTATE IN 1850 SOME EIGHT YEARS
LATER. I DO HOWEVER PICK HER UP IN A NEIGBORING COUNTY AS A MEMBER OF A
CHURCH. IT IS FROM THIS BIT OF INFORMATION THAT I
HAVE GATHERED THAT SHE WAS EITHER SOLD OR HIRED OUT, BUT I
BELIEVE MOST LIKELY SOLD TO A DR.FIELDS WHO IS LISTED AS HER OWNER.
ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU COULD PROVIDE WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED. THE
CLARISSA THAT I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING WAS IN WAYNE CO. MS DURING
THE YEAR OF 1880, LIVING WITH HER SON COLLINS AND HIS WIFE AMANDA
ALONG WITH THEIR TWO DAUGHTERS. CLARISSA WAS FOUND IN WAYNE CO. MS STATE
CENSUS LIVING WITH HER HUSBAND, CLEMENT POWE (60YRS) OF AGE, HER TWO SONS,
KING (19) AND COLLINS(13). ALSO LISTED WAS THEIR TWO DAUGHTERS RHODA (12)
MY GT. GD. MOTHER AND HER SISTER JUDA(10). I HAVE BEEN ABLE
TO TRACE CLARRISSA FROM NOXUBEE TO WAYNE CO. USING THE PROBATE RECORDS FOR
NOXUBEE COUNTIES AND THE PROBATING OF THE FREDRICK HUDSONS WILL. I WAS ABLE
TO MATCH THE AGES TO THE CORRECT AGE GIVEN FOR HER WHEN THE CENSUS WAS TAKEN
IN 1866. I AM NOW TRYING TO FIND OUT FOR SURE IF SHE WAS GIVEN TO ONE OF
THE HUDSON CHILDREN WHO MARRIED DR. FIELD... AS TO HOW SHE MOVED FROM ONE
COUNTY TO ANOTHER, ALTHOUGH THEY ARE VERY CLOSE BY.

My brother wrote a book, Tidewater to Texas. It is a book about the Hurt
family. One of the chapters is about William Hampton Hurt(Billy).
Bill was a corporal in the Confederate Army. Bill was wounded at the Battle
of Shiloh and was taken to the First Baptist Church in Macon Mississippi
where he died of his wounds some 51 days after the battle. He is buried
in White Cemetery near his home in Noxubee County.He was married to Sarah
White, together they had six children, 46 grandchildren and 200 great grandchildren.
Sarah White died in 1879 and is buried alongside her husband.

more importantly their photos and stories. Thomas Fleming Barnhill
born December 25, 1839 in Macon, MS, is listed on the roster of Co.F,
1stMs Cavalry on this site . He was the brother of William Isaiah
Barnhill my 3rd great-grandfather. On my site you can view photos of
