Charles Ray Smith, 79, a retiree, of Florence died February 5, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services were re conducted from the chapel of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall with burial following in Antioch Cemetery in Old Pearl.

Mr. Smith was a U. S. Navy veteran and a member of Harrisville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Diane Brasher and Charline Barber and husband Tommy Barber, all of Florence; grandchildren, Mike and Stacy Barber, Steve and Sonya Barber, Rusty and Teresa Barber and Kim and Lanny Brown, all of Florence; a sister, Effie Clemetine Larkin of Natchez; seven-grandchildren and a special family friend, Ann Martin of Mendenhall.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie L. Smith, and his parents, Dorsh and Patsy Clemetine Summers Smith.
