Lindley Allison Carlton
Lindley Allison Carlton, born December 19, 1927 in Arkabutla, MS,
died December 30, 2009 in Chattanooga, TN. He was the son of the late
Lonnie Earl & Mildred Lampkin Carlton of Arkabutla..
Allison attended Arkabutla high school and enrolled in the University of
Alabama as a physics major where he earned a degree in Aeronautical
Engineering.
Allison served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later in the
U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Allison was employed for 12 years at North American Aviation
in Los Angeles, CA and 25 years at McDonald Douglas Aircraft Corp.
in St. Louis, MO. He was employed at Accurate Automation, Inc. in
Chattanooga at the time of death.
He was preceded in death by his wife Amy Pyron Carlton and two sons,
James Glen and Lawrence (Larry) Carlton. He is survived by two
daughters, Eileen Wimpenny (John), of Germany and Janice
Gates (Steve) of St. Louis, MO, three grandchildren, two great
grandchildren, one sister, Margaret (Les) Dicken, Senatobia, MS and one
brother, Fred Carlton (Marie) of Arkabutla, MS.
A memorial service was held January 2, 2010 in Chattanooga, TN. Burial
was in St. Louis, MO Monday, January 4, 2010. Arrangements by Heritage
Funeral Home in Chattanooga.
