May 27, 1881 DIED
NEELY-on Friday the 20th instant, after a long and painful illness, little JOHNNIE, son of MR. & MRS. T. E. NEELY. He was buried Saturday morning at Bethesda Cemetery, where he will sweetly sleep until the trump of the Archangel shall summon him to take his place in the ranks of that mighty throng who have had their robes washed in the blood of the Lamb.
May 27, 1881 IN MEMORIAM
"He giveth his beloved sleep" Into the sleep which he gives, sank little JOHNNIE NEELY on Friday, May 20th, seemingly free at last from the suffering which he had so patiently endured. His gentleness during his illness won the affection and admiration of all who came near him. At school he was ever obedient, always accomplishing many given task.
Though not understanding why the Father should have called home one who gave promise of so much usefulness, we, who loved him so tenderly and whose hearts are almost breaking with sorrow for his loss, find much comfort in the words "He giveth his beloved sleep" Let me be patient God has taken from us the earthly treasures upon which we leaned. That from the fleeting things which lie around us our clinging hearts should be forever weaned"
