Stewart Family Cemetery

(This cemetery is across MS Hwy 3 from Satartia and just up the hill in a grove of trees. There is a clear view of Satartia from the cemetery. The post office is about 1/2 mile toward Yazoo City from the property where the cemetery is located. The cemetery is a total overgrown ruin.)

Note from Howard George:

Mrs. Schneider, [<--- former county coordinator]

I have learned that the sister of Eleanor E. (George) Alston, Louisa J. George first married a Stewart that he died not long after the marriage and was probably buried in the subject cemetery. They probably married in Yazoo County or Holmes County about 1837 and he probably died around 1838. I have not located his personal name and know nothing else about him. When my wife and I were in the cemetery we saw a marker that was probably his but we did not kow of the Stewart-George marriage and made no note of it. Louisa J. George married 2nd Jacob Swoop Wise in April 1840 probably in Yazoo or Holmes.
