      I am searching for info on my great grandfather, James Hamilton CARR. He was born in Mississippi, but his parents (names unknown) were born in Tennessee. He went to college in Tennessee, but eventually ended up in Texas. He had a much older sister (name unknown) and when their parents died, she sold the farm and moved to Texas.

According to a 1900 Texas census all 6 of Mattie's children were born in Mississippi. The children were Charles "A.C."DALTON b.Sep 10, 1870; Delma Jackson DALTON b. May 25, 1873; James DALTON b. Oct 1878; Beucy DALTON b. Oct 1882; Eldrich DALTON b. May 1887; and Mattie DALTON b. May 1889. Any information on the birth of Mattie and/or any of her children or the marriage of Mattie and C.F.       Looking for parents of James Francis ROSS who was born in MS in 1819. I don't know the county. By 1841 he was residing in Hardeman Co., TN and married Sarah GEORGE. By 1860 he was back in MS probably in Tippah Co. (later to become part of Benton Co., MS) where he and his family can be found in 1866 and 1870. According to the 1880 census his parents were both born in SC and his mother's name was probably Jane. Thanks.

Could possibly be Frank Hearn enumerated with Travis Hearn, 1880 US Census in Lauderdale Cty., (T-744 R?39). Frank Hearn is my grandfather and I have him firmly located by US Census (1900) in Lithonia, GA; Dekalb Cty. married to Norah (Jason), with four children Jerome (my father) (93), Montine, (95), Baltize (97) and Jessie (99).       I am looking for information on my ggrandmother, Emma Jane JONES, b. 21 Feb 1873 in an unknown county in MS and d. 15 Jun 1909 in Miller Grove, Hopkins, Texas. She married George Andrew MCGOWAN on 14 Jun 1891 in Miller Grove. Emma's parents are Thomas Fletcher JONES (b. 19 Nov 1825 in TN; d. Jun 1899 in Miller Grove, Hopkins, TX) and Mary Jane (b. 8 Jul 1836 in MO; d. 22 Jun 1903 in Miller Grove). That is all the information I have. I would love to know Emma's mother's maiden name and any other information on her grandparents.

      I am looking for information on Janes HARGROVES (b. 10 Apr 1832 in an unknown county in MS; d. 15 Mar 1905 in Miller Grove, Hopkins, Texas). She married Andrew MCGOWAN on 25 Apr 1850 in Greenfield, Poinsett, Arkansas. I believe her mother's name was Susan and that she had a brother named James (both are listed on the 1870 Federal Census for Craighead County, Arkansas living a few houses away from Jane and Andrew). Any information on where in MS Jane came from and more complete information on her parents would be greatly appreciated.

      Serching for parents and siblings of Will C. SMITH bn Miss. Aug 1849, m. prior to 1880 Martha J LUTTRELL also bn Miss in 1849. Both in unknown countries of Miss. Will SMITH was said to be in Civil War, fought at Shiloh, but was only about 12 at that time. He was said to have a brother named Thoms. Martha was said to have a brother named Marion and a sister named Mary. This couple lived in Henderson Co TN with 2 sons in 1880, Robert L.W. and my (grandfather) William Henry. In 1900 they lived in Chester Co TN and had 3 more children, Rossetta, Zora and James M. Also need date and place of death for both Will and Martha SMITH.

      I am searching for a William ALLEN, born in James Co. or Hamilton County, Tennessee, Oct. 30, 1859, the son of James C. Allen and Elizabeth Gotcher Allen. He was the brother to James Clift Allen, born Sept 19, 1847, married to Minerva Jane Elder. Other siblings in this family: Arvazenia and Zivenia (twins), Nancy, John S., Temperance, Michael. Their father, James C. Allen was born in KY and married Elizabeth Gotcher in 1846 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. At the time of James Clift Allen's death in Bradley County Tennessee Feb. 16, 1920, his obituary in the Chattanooga paper listed one brother surviving, Will Allen of Mississippi,and two sisters who were unnamed, living in Chattanooga, and Dayton Tennessee. James Clift Allen was my great grandfather. I have not been able to get further back in this family than James C. Allen, my great grandfather. Both James C. Sr., and James Clift Allen served in the Union Army, 4th TN. Cav. Later James Clift Allen served a term in the TN. House of Representatives, representing Bradley Co.       Looking for info on Greenberry Bonds b: Feb.25,1847 in MS. (county unknown) His parents were Wesley Daniel Bonds b: in TN and poss. Melinda Polk. Greeenberry's birthname was possibly John Richard Green Bonds, but I have seen Green and Greenberry used on his marraige records and 1880 AR census. Greenberry Bonds married Sarah Williams in 1870 and they had 6 children that I know of. 1. William Jackson 2. Janie Louisa 3. Nancy Melinda 4.Minerva 5. Daniel Wesley 6. John Richard Greenberry died in 1883 in AR. Sarah remarried a Mr. ? Smith and had at least two more children..       I am researching CONWAYs, PITTS and BARNETTs who moved around in the TN, AL, MS area. I have really reached a dead end with my CONWAYs as I can't get past my ggrandfather whose father was William P. CONWAY/CONAWAY. The story is that my gggrandmother, Elizabeth Jane DIAL, married my gggrandfather, William P. CONWAY/CONAWAY in Wayne County (may still have been Lewis County at the time), TN. He was from somewhere in MS and he took her back with him. His family, per family tradition, was landed gentry and Elizabeth was homespun country and the family did not accept her and instead pretty much treated her like a fieldhand. She tired of it and confronted old Bill and told him to intervene with the family or she was leaving. According to family legend he gave her a mule, pointed her toward Wayne County and said bye. She was carrying 1 yr old James Patrick Conway (my ggrandfather) in her arms and pregnant with a second child but made it across the TN River and back to Wayne County anyway. Sadly, Beryl Conway was stillborn. Pretty poor prenatal care, that. I believe that William Perry CONAWAY, son of Richard CONAWAY, of Monroe County is the most likely candidate for my attentions but, I was just recently in Monroe county and can find no reference to Elizabeth DIAL nor can I find reference to William CONAWAY in Wayne County except in the Smithson genealogy. If any descendants of Bill Conway/CONAWAY recognize the history or the name of Elizabeth DIAL I would sure appreciate some assist.
