Maza, John

Submitted by his g-granddaughter, Carolyn Maza Clark

MAZA, John, b 9/12/1836 d 6/4/1895 buried at Spring Break Cemetery, Calhoun Co MS, married Joanna JENKINS, dau of Simon JENKINS and Alpha CAIN. John served as a Private in Co. E,  1st Regiment   Mississippi Calvary. His enlistment date was 2/15/1863 at Serepta, MS by Captain WHEELER. He was wounded near Roane TN on 10/13/1864. His regiment, commanded by Colonel R A PAINSON, surrendered at Citronelle, AL, 5/4/1865, and were held as prisoners of war. They were paroled at Columbus, MS 5/18/1865.
