Anthrax Kills Man at Newellton, Louisiana
NATCHEZ, Miss., Aug. 1.--(By A.P.) - The death of O. C. McElrath, of Newellton, La., Wednesday night from anthrax has been reported to local health authorities.
McElrath was brought to a hospital here several days ago. It is stated he contracted the disease while burying the infected carcass of a cow.
Newellton is in Tensas parish, about seventy-five miles from Natchez, a large number of mules have been reported as having died of the disease in that parish. In the territory immediately adjacent to Natchez the outbreak of anthrax is under control.
