    Cyrus MCWHORTER and wife, Ruth, were in Pontotoc Co. in the 1850 census. I am interested in their son, W.S. McWhorter. I believe he may be the same W.S. McWhorter who later lived in Refugio and Aransas Co., TX, and was married to a Sarah. I would be interested in hearing about any McWhorter who lived in this county. Thank you.

Need to know name of father, where, and when he died, as well as complete names of wives. Know William B's mother was Rebecca ?Anderson, b.c.1800 VA. She was head of household and resided with him or vice versa 1840 Madison Co. AL, 1850+ 1860 near Jonesboro, Tippah Co. MS. Are these Norvells related to those during the 1840's in McNairy Co. TN?     Researching George Alexander TINDALL who was born in Ga. about 1817. He came to Pontotoc Co. about 1843 and married Eliz. WHITESIDES, daughter of Hugh WHITESIDES on Dec. 11, 1848. George worked as an overseer on the David HOYLE plantation. The family moved to Crockett, Tex. about 1879. George's son, William, married Elizabeth HALL and lived in Tupelo until his death in 1935.

WALKER d/o Japheth WALKER 1865 Pontotoc Co., MS and George Franklin GILMAN b. 1850 Somerset Co, Maine married Precilla WALKER ca 1870 also a daughter of Japheth WALKER. In 1850 & 1860 Japheth WALKER is listed on the census in Red Land, Pontotoc Co., MS. By 1880 all of the above families are in Comanche Co., TX. Any information would be helpful. JoAnn

    I need information on the following families: William C. SWINDOLL and wife Elizabeth MEADOR(S) Swindoll who came to Pontotoc Co. before 1850. I believe him to be the nephew of Charles Cornelius, a Revolutionary Soldier who is buried in the area. William's daughter, Mary Octavia, married Presley R. HARRIS who died Dec 22, 1872. She then moved to Texas with her father. They are in Williamson Co. TX in 1880. This county is near Austin TX. Another daughter, Martha married Lee ARNOLD. A third daughter, Eliza M. married William WEST. She is buried in a cemetery in the area also. There are two other daughters that I have no information on, except for their names, they are Salitia(?)and Cornelia. William and Elizabeth also had several sons. William C. Jr. married two times, first to Cynthia Williams Harris, a sister to Presley R. and the child of Madison Harris. William C., Jr. married second, Susan Plant. Warren Meador married in Texas, to Elizabeth Alzada McCutcheon. Charles Madison, also married in Texas, to Lillian Beatrice Leigh. I have no information on the son, Augustus W., except for his name.     Need information on the McDaniel Family that lived at Chesterville, Ms. Tom Mcdaniel was found on the 1920 Census. He had a daughter, Mary Eveline, who was struck by lightning and killed in the field of Dr. Lee Carruth. Henry Cleveland McDaniel died in Pontotoc County about 1961, and was married 1st to Verdie Lee Lackey, and second to Nannie Anderson Riley. Any help would be appreciated. Gail H.     Cordelia Carter b. 1/31/1882 d. 10/21/1960 was the daughter of Taylor Carter and Lisa. Before settling in Union Co., MS, this family resided in Pontotoc Co., MS. Taylor should have been born ca1851 possibly in Franklin KY. According to the LDS files, Taylor's parents were Albert G. Carter and Virginia. I have copies of pictures of two of Cordelia's brothers, Hugh and Tom. Tom is wearing a military uniform. Would appreciate any information and will share.     Looking for information on the family William C. SWINDOLL. It is believed that his middle name was Cornelius and that he was the nephew of Rev. War Soldier Charles CORNELIUS. William C. SWINDOLL moved to Pontotoc Co. MS prior to 1850 and lived in the area until he moved to TX. Some of his children remained in the area. His children were: Martha born 1830 GA; Eliza born ca 1836 GA; William C. Jr, born ca 1838 GA; Augustus W. born ca 1839 GA; Mary Octavia born ca 1842 GA; Warren Meador b 12-15-1840 GA; Lititia(?) born ca 1844 MS; Cornelia D. born ca 1854 MS;and Charles Madison born ca 1857 MS. Charles Madison SWINDOLL and Warren Meador SWINDOLL went to TX as did their father. Mary Octavia Swindoll married Presley R. HARRIS and after his death, she went to TX with her children. They had one "known" child William Montague MAULDIN b. 1-8-1872 in Ponotoc Co., MS m. Lula Jones b. 12-14-1866. William and Lula had the following children: (11 children and 3 lived to adulthood) John "Henry" b. 1897, Lena Mae b. 1898 and Viola MAULDIN b. 1909.     I'm looking for information about Charlie Mike MIEARS and his sister, Mary Jane MIERS. They were the children of John Porter and Ellinor Elizabeth (Ellie) KING MIEARS. Charlie Mike was born about 1881 and Mary Jane was born about 1884. Ellie died of comsumption August 20, 1886 and my family lost contact with the children. Ellie's sister, Dulcinia Ann KING MCGEE, was my great-grandmother. Dulcinia moved with her family, first into Arkansas then into Indian Territory in the 1880's. I've been unable to find Ellie's grave. Her mother is buried in the Edington Cemetery in Pontotoc County and her father was killed in the Battle Of Franklin Tennessee and is buried in the Confederate Cemetery there.

    In Dec of 1859 Jeremiah KELLY and Emma Catharine LONG were married in Pont Co. On the 1860 Census both are included, stating he was about 23, and she was about 16. Both of them born in Ireland. I know she landed in New Orleans from Ireland, with her parents, Daniel and Catharine Long, and some brothers and sisters. I do not know who the parents of Jeremiah KELLY were, nor when he and his family came from Ireland to America. I believe he served in the MS State Troops, CSA during War B/W States, but need additional information for proper documentation.
