Will of Christopher Vandevender

October 26th 1859,

In the name of God, amen, I Christopher Vandevender of the State and County above written, living of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly go the way of all the earth, and be no more, I have thought it proper while I am yet blest with my usual powers of mind to make and write this my last will and testament and to make the following disposal of my earthly possessions. Viz: First my land I give and dispose to my oldest son William A. Vandevender the following described tract or parcel of land, the S half of the W of the SE qr of Section seven Township twelve Range fifteen E, and also the south half of the East of the South West qr of the same Section, Township and Range, I give and bequeath to my two sons Hiram, Ralph S. Vandevender the following described tract or parcel of land, the North half of the West of the SE qr. and the south half of the west of the north west qr. of Section seven Township Twelve Range Fifteen E, I also give and bequeath unto the heirs of my son Levi Vandevender, Decd, to be equally shared between said heirs, the following described tract or parcel of land, The South half of the W of the South West qr. of Section Seven Township Twelve Range Fifteen E, I also give and bequeath unto my sons Samuel I and Thomas Vandevender, the following described tract or parcel of land, viz: The north half of the East of the South west qr. and also the north half of the west of the South west qr. of Section seven Township Twelve Range Fifteen E, I give and bequeath unto my son Jacob Vandevender the following described tract or parcel of land, to wit: The north half of the West of the North west qr. of Section Seven, Township Twelve Range Fifteen E, I also give and bequeath to my son Jonathan C. Vandevender, the following described tract or parcel of land, to wit: The West half of the North East quarter and the East half of the north west qr. Of Section Seven Township twelve Range fifteen E, All of which land lying and being in Kemper County, Mississippi, and in the land District of Columbus, I also give and bequeath unto my three daughters Elizabeth McArthur, Mary McArthur and Sarah Little, to be equally shared among the three, all my household and kitchen furniture to be possessed by them after the death of myself and my companion and in case my demise should occur before that of my companion, I will that she have and possess all and singular all that pertains to myself as though I still living and after all my debts and funeral expenses are paid. I will that my stock and whatever I may own at the time of my death be sold and equally divided among my heirs legally.
