Death Records

A few counties kept birth and death records from as early as 1879. State registration of births and deaths began in November 1912. General compliance was not reached until 1921.
If you know of any death records available for Kemper prior to 1921, please send them to the County Coordinator.

Barbara King passed on this information:
Instructions for obtaining a death certificate from the State of Mississippi are available at: http://www.msdh.state.ms.us/phs/forms/form523i.htm.
Alternate instructions to order through a private company, using a credit card are available at: http://www.msdh.state.ms.us/msdhsite/_static/31,0,109.html.
The cost is $10.00 for the first copy and $2.00 for an additional copy. The private company adds $7.50, minimum, to the state fee. There is a $6.00 non refundable search fee if no record is found.
