Lula Bell Cowsert Phillips, 88, of Sarepta, died Sunday, February 28, 1982 at Grenada County Hospital in Grenada.She was the widow of Mr. Virgil Phillips who died in 1956.A member of Sarepta Baptist Church, she was born October 21, 1893, the daughter of James Cowsert and Lula Hill Cowsert.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 2 at 11:00 at Sarepta Baptist Church with Rev. Mamon Morris and Rev. Jimmy McMillen officiating.Burial was in Old Antioch Cemetery [sic: Lafayette County] with Pryor-Wilson Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were Walter Hellums, Charlie Chrestman, Junior McGregor, Gary Paul Newman, Eugene Newman, Charlie Yancy.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Nina Freeman, Grenada; one brother, Cleveland Cowsert, Bruce; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
