Vaughan, James W.

(Died July 25, 1930 - Newspaper not noted)

Our community together with other friends and relatives were made sad on last Friday evening, when the death angel visited in the home of Mr. Jim W. Vaughan and claimed the life of this good man. Funeral services were held at Concord Baptist Church Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Hollinsworth, after which the remains were laid to rest there amidst a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives.

He is survived by his widow, his sisters, Mrs. Dora Carmicle, of this county (Calhoun County, Mississippi) Mrs. Leona Hughes, of Yalobusha county; Mrs. S.A. Ruff, Mrs. George Varner, Mrs. Emmitt Crittenden of Texas; and a host of grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his son, Arch, and one daughter, Mrs. P.H. Miller, one stepson, Mr. Tom Black, and step-daughter, Mrs. H.P. Bollinger.

Mr. Vaughan was born, and lived his entire life in Calhoun county. We greatly feel the need of a worthier writer in trying to say a few words of the life and character of this good Christian and law abiding citizen. _____ UNREADABLE AREA

He professed a _____ at the age of 38 and united with the Baptist Church at Old Mount Tabor, later moving his membership to Concord where he remained a member the remainder if his stay on earth. Mr. Vaughan lived a life no man should be ashamed of, or afraid to die by. He was also a hardworking man, having bought a home near Concord church and paid for it by hard labor and good management.

He, at an early age of manhood, was married to Miss Sallie Phillips. To them were born his only two living children, Arch and Mrs. P.H. Miller. She died making him a widower. He then married Mrs. Etta Black and to them were born three children, all of whom are dead.

To his bereaved loved ones we wish to say that we too,, someday, will have to pass through the same dark valley that this dear friend and loved one has passed through. So, as we think of him as we journey on through life let's prepare to meet him where sad partings will be no more.
Think of this, how many can say, "I'm ready to go?"
