Twin Cemetery

submitted by Cindy Payne
Twin Cemetery in Kemper county consists of a very old grave yard with mostly unmarked graves. There are only four markers. A general marker mentions Adams and Taylor families:

Ira B. Taylor
Hannah Taylor wife of Ira B. Taylor
Sarah Jane Taylor
Then there is another cemetery (a road once went between them) just the other side which consists of Taylors, Vaughns, and other related families. According to my grandmother and the Marker in the old cemetery there is a slave cemetery to one side and an Indian one to north of the slave cemetery So there is actually four cemeteries.
James Vaughn (1804-1856) is buried in the one with the most graves and according to his tombstone (which is fairly new - I assume one of his children or grandchildren placed it there.) He moved to Kemper County from Speeds Mill community on Bear Creek in Pickens County, Alabama on November 13, 1833. There is also a stone placed at the foot of his grave which is engraved with Speeds Mill Creek.
My gggrandfather was John Ira Taylor who married Mary Vaughn.
